Stephens GROCERY & MARKET BECOMES FIRST IN NORTH TEXAS TO LAUNCH REWARD MARKETPLACE FROM EXCENTUS
Gas Perks program rewards loyal shoppers with valuable discounts on gasoline
PILOT POINT, Texas, March 8, 2007 -- Excentus Corp., the leader in fuel site marketing programs, technology and integration services, has announced that Stephens Grocery & Market will partner with Martin Eagle Oil Company, Inc. to become the first grocer in North Texas to launch the Reward Marketplace program.
The incentive program, branded Gas Perks, will reward shoppers who purchase goods at Stephens Grocery& Market with discounts on fuel purchased at the on-site Stephens fuel island operated by Martin Eagle Oil Company.
Shannon Stephens, president of Stephens Grocery & Market, said, "We are very excited to introduce this program for our loyal shoppers in Pilot Point. Now, in addition to getting great prices on a tremendous selection of goods, our customers will earn discounts on each gallon of gasoline purchased at our fuel site."
The Stephens Gas Perks program will reward customers with a five-cent discount per gallon of gasoline for every $50 spent inside the store. In addition, Stephens will offer bonus Gas Perks for purchasing specially promoted items inside the store. Shoppers will redeem their discounts by presenting their Stephens Gas Perks loyalty card at the fuel pumps located in the grocery store parking lot. And every customer who purchases gas at the on-site Stephens fuel island, whether they have shopped for groceries or not, will automatically receive a $.02 per gallon discount for simply scanning their Stephens Gas Perks card at the fuel dispenser.
Steve and Gary Martin, owners of Martin Eagle Oil Company, are the two men who brought the Gas Perks concept to Stephens. "This is the best marketing program we've seen because it provides meaningful discounts to consumers for doing the two things that they have to do almost every week; buy groceries and fill up their vehicles with gasoline. We've already had several customers present their Gas Perks card at the dispenser and have the price rolled down by more than $1 per gallon", said Steve Martin.
Dickson Perry, CEO of Excentus, spoke of the advantages that fuel cross-marketing brings to grocers and fuel station owners. "We've been operating very successful programs at grocery chains like Giant Eagle, SuperValu, Shop 'N Save, Giant Carlisle, and Price Chopper for several years. In every case where the program is executed well and promoted properly, grocery sales and fueling volumes have increased dramatically. We at Excentus are very excited to see our marketing program launched so close to home."
